Whirlpool Corporation may be acquired by German engineering group “Robert Bosch.”

The news first surfaced in a report from Reuters. The report three people familiar with the matter stated Bosch is weighing a bid in a move that would boost its position in the household appliances market.

Recent restructuring at Whirlpool included the loss of an estimated 1,000 employees from their headquarters and other key positions in product development, human resources, and quality control.

Spokespeople for both Bosch and Whirlpool said they don’t comment on rumors or speculation.
