Motorcyclist injured in crash after striking deer in Cass County

A 68-year-old Vandalia man was injured in a motorcycle crash after colliding with a deer, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 21, on Mt. Zion Street near Kessington Road. Deputies say the man was traveling westbound when a deer unexpectedly entered the roadway. The motorcyclist was thrown upon impact.

He was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Deer, walnuts, apples, rocks and sand are making some nice rides dangerous.
