The Oct. 31 deadline to apply for an Indiana House Republican internship during the 2025 legislative session is fast approaching, according to area lawmakers.
State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) said this full-time, spring semester internship is Monday through Friday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and can gain academic credit through their college or university.
“Young Hoosiers will not only learn valuable skills by interning with the House, but they will also get paid and earn school credit while doing it,” DeVon said. “This internship is a rewarding experience, and I encourage students from my area to apply.”
State Rep. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) said interested college sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates of all majors should visit //indianahouserepublicans.com/internship to complete the application before Oct. 31.
“As a former intern, I was able to see and experience how the legislative process works, which was incredibly rewarding,” Teshka said. “Interns will walk away with a new perspective on state government and see how laws affect Hoosiers.”
State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) said Indiana House internships include free parking, career and professional development assistance, and enrollment access to an Indiana government class. Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
“Each day there is something new and exciting happening at the Statehouse during session,” Wesco said. “It’s a fast-paced environment, and we look forward to working with young Hoosiers who are looking to grow personally and professionally.”
The program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy and communications.
Applications are available online at //indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
