Man critically hurt after being hit by vehicle at State Road 23, Douglas Road

Officers in St. Joseph County are investigating after a man was hit by a car and “critically” hurt. It happened on Thursday night, Dec. 19, at State Road 23.

Police say a 77-year-old man was driving on State Road 23 when he hit the 60-year-old man near Douglas Road.

The man apparently walked onto the road, though it is not clear why.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
