Niles man, 60, killed in single-vehicle crash at Bell Road & Ironwood Drive

A Niles man was killed in a crash in Milton Township.

The collision happened just after 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, in the area of Bell Street and Ironwood Drive.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports a vehicle driven by Michael Jasper, 60, was traveling westbound on Bell Road when he left the roadway and struck a tree. Jasper was transported by ambulance to Niles Lakeland Hospital for injuries sustained in the traffic crash. He was later transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he was pronounced dead.

Jasper was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s report.

Factors into the crash remains under investigation.
