The body of a Valparaiso man was pulled from Lake Michigan.
Officials from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources say 67 year-old Michael Barnes went into the water around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28, attempting to retrieve his boat, which had drifted off near Burns Ditch while he was fishing on the shoreline.
He went underwater and a search ensued for the next two hours before his body was found around 1:40 p.m. using sonar.
Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene.
