A trial delay for a man accused of killing his significant other was denied last week.
Hector Duran Gomez is accused of asphyxiating Alma Bermeo with a zip-tie despite a no-contact order.
Her body was found in a locked garage at their home in Goshen in October after police were asked to do a welfare check due to her friends being unable to reach her.
Officials say surveillance cameras had been tampered with, and Gomez was found with scratches on his arm.
The Goshen News says Gomez’s attorney has claimed that Bermeo may have previously attempted taking her own life and requested a trial delay and access to her mental health records, but the judge denied the delay. Trial is set for July 7.
