Indiana company recalls ‘Vine Ripe’ tomatoes sold at GFS locations

(95.3 MNC)
An Indiana-based company has issued a recall of “Vine Ripe” tomatoes sold in four-count packages.
The FDA announced the action due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination. The recalled tomatoes were sold at Gordon Food Service locations across eleven states, including in Indiana.
The affected lot numbers are RM250424 15250B or Lot RM250427 15250B. Customers who have questions or want to report an illness should reach out to Ray & Mascari Inc. at 1-317-637-0234.
Health officials are urging anyone who purchased the tomatoes in question to discard them immediately as salmonella can cause serious illness.
Salmonella infection can include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, typically developing anywhere from six hours to six days after consuming contaminated food.
Young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to these infections.
