Two people hurt, homes and vehicles damaged by gunfire in South Bend

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting that wounded two people on the city’s northwest side.

On Saturday, May 24, around 9:20 p.m., South Bend Police were called to the 100 block of S. Meade Street on the report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers were investigating, they were advised of a second victim with an apparent gunshot wound who walked into Memorial Hospital. The male was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital.

Investigating officers located several homes and vehicles that had been damaged by apparent gunfire.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
