A single-vehicle accident occurred on County Road 50 near the intersection with County Road 143, resulting in injuries to the driver.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, a Dodge Ram 1500, driven by a 44-year-old Ligonier woman, swerved to avoid a deer crossing the roadway. Police say the woman lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and struck a utility pole on the south side of the road.
The woman sustained minor facial injuries, including swelling and bleeding from the airbag deployment, and reported pain in her right knee. She was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment. The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.
Gonzalez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, according to police.
