A domestic dispute involving a weapon led to a standoff in a residential neighborhood on the city’s west side.

Goshen Police were called to the 400 block of Kansas Drive around 3:05 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, after receiving reports of a man making threats toward family members inside a home.

According to police, the 34-year-old male suspect was armed when officers arrived. Other occupants of the house had managed to lock themselves in a room and call 911. With the help of officers on the scene, they were able to leave the residence safely and without injury.

A standoff followed, during which police negotiators spent several hours attempting to de-escalate the situation. Around 6:15 p.m., the man exited the home voluntarily and was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
