A jury is deadlocked in a St. Joseph County murder trial.

Takoda Gallegos, 17, of Vandalia was shot and killed in the 200 block of Indiana Avenue in Mishawaka.

The suspect, Latrell Vaughn was tried as an adult.

While the jury convicted him on lesser charges, they could not reach a verdict on the murder charge.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has until Sep. 2 to decide whether to retry him.

A 14-year-old is charged in the case, but is going through juvenile court.
