This week is Rail Safety Week, and Indiana Operation Lifesaver is joining to help stop track tragedies.
Each year, more than 2,100 North Americans are killed or seriously injured in train and track incidents. Reports say more than 100 of those individuals are from Indiana.
So, Indiana Operation Lifesaver is leading community events, social media campaigns and videos with stories from victims, families and first responders, bringing awareness to the issue.
They’ll touch on crossing safety, transit and professional driver safety, volunteering and more.
They say no photo or video is worth the risk, warning against taking photos on or around tracks and trains.
