Former Fairfield Athletic Director Mark Engle is now facing criminal charges.

He’s facing charges of perjury and conversion, stemming from misuse of school funds.

Court documents say Engle resigned last fall after admitting he’d inappropriately paid himself $450 through the school’s Eventlink account, claiming he planned to pass it on to staff who helped at football games. Investigators say those staffers never received the money.

Indiana State Police also allege Engle falsely claimed nonprofit status while setting up a summer-camp account in 2022, leading to the perjury charge.

The Goshen News says Engle was formally dismissed by the school board in December.
