A New York man is behind bars after a four-county police chase on the Indiana Toll Road Thursday morning.

State Police say a trooper tried stopping a gray Kia for speeding near mile marker 93 in Elkhart County just after 8:20 a.m. Instead, the driver accelerated to around 120 miles per hour while avoiding several sets of stop sticks deployed across St. Joseph, LaPorte, and Porter counties.

Troopers finally punctured the Kia’s tires near mile 26, forcing it into a ditch by the Portage Toll Plaza.

28-year-old Daniyal Zaidi of Jamaica, New York was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on resisting law-enforcement and reckless driving charges.
