I&M Power reminds customers to prioritize electrical safety

I&M Power is urging customers to make electrical safety a priority as it gets colder outside.

They say while keeping your home warm is desired, you should be sure to do so in a safe manner. Use caution near lights and outlets by keeping flammable materials away from light bulbs and using power strips with several outlets and a built-in circuit breaker.

Clean exhaust fans, and don’t overload circuits. If using space heaters or electric blankets, be sure to inspect them regularly and unplug them when not in use.

As always, be sure to check your smoke alarms to ensure they are working properly. For more safety information, visit IndianaMichiganPower.com/Safety
