Indiana BMV warns of new scam text message

(Photo supplied/Elkhart Truth)

The Indiana BMV is warning Hoosiers to watch out for a new scam text message

They say the messages are strongly mimicking the BMV’s mobile website and improperly citing Indiana Code. They’re urging the public to ignore the messages.

They say to avoid clicking on any links and delete the message immediately.

The BMV does not send text messages about outstanding penalties, and the fees outlined in the messages are not ones that the agency actually collects.

If you’re not sure if it’s a scam, it likely is. Visit in.gov/bmv for more information on BMV related scams.
