A crash involving an Edwardsburg school bus, a car, and a minivan temporarily shut down traffic near Edwardsburg High School.

Cass County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of M-62 and May Street around 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, after reports of a multi-vehicle collision.

Police say a 17-year-old driver from Elkhart had stopped at the intersection on May Street but failed to yield to the southbound school bus on M-62.

Investigators say the teen’s vehicle struck the bus before being hit by a northbound vehicle on M-62. The bus reportedly flipped onto its side following the collision.

Edwardsburg Schools Superintendent Dr. Szucs confirmed there were no students on board the bus at the time of the crash.

The intersection was closed in all directions while crews cleared the scene and removed the bus. By 9 a.m., the area was reopened to traffic.
