Venezuelan National sentenced to 30 months for unlawful firearm possession

A Venezuelan national living in Chicago was sentenced to 30 months in U.S. District Court in South Bend after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

According to court documents, Guillermo Zarate-Martinez, 29, was in the United States illegally in August 2024 when he was found with three firearms in Mishawaka.

Prosecutors said Zarate-Martinez and several others went to a local business armed and threatened the owner in an effort to collect an alleged debt. He was later arrested and federal charges were filed. Zarate-Martinez will serve his sentence in the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Question why was he charged Federally and not locally ?

Is Saint Joseph County an alleged sanctuary area? Where they do not honor ICE retainers?

Usually this is the reason for Federal charges

Correct. AG Rokita sued them over it last year.

Then send this illegal criminal back to Venezuela! Go ICE!

Citizens before aliens, before criminals. Crime rates are lowest ever because we are pursuing the people who are committing the crimes.
