A bill empowering Indiana’s governor to deploy a “military police force” within the Indiana National Guard advanced out of the House this week on a 67-29 vote.
House Bill 1343 allows the National Guard to establish a specialized police force with specific training and qualifications, with the governor able to deploy them in times of war, disaster, or as deemed necessary.
The bill now heads to the Indiana Senate.
