Michigan’s Republican congressional delegation is demanding answers from Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson over election-integrity concerns in Macomb County.
Lawmakers say a recent review identified 14 non-citizens who were registered to vote, some with a voting history, and they point to earlier reports that at least 15 non-citizens cast ballots in the 2024 election.
In a letter, the delegation accused Benson of refusing a Department of Justice request for voter-registration data and said the reports undermine public confidence in the state’s elections.
State officials say non-citizen voting cases are extremely rare, representing a tiny fraction of more than 5.7 million ballots cast in 2024.
