The Syracuse Skate Park closed on Tuesday after crews discovered vandalism throughout the park.
Workers found symbols, phrases, and profanity just one day after completing post-winter maintenance to prepare the park for the public.
Syracuse Parks Superintendent Chad Jonsson said the damage was frustrating, especially after recent maintenance work. Community responses to photos of the vandalism were mixed.
Some supported keeping the spray paint, saying graffiti is common at skate parks. Others suggested having a local artist paint the park, but Jonsson said it’s not simple.
