Crews in Mishawaka work to contain natural gas leak off of East 12th Street

Crews have been working since Friday to contain a natural gas leak at the intersection of East 12th Street and Industrial Drive in Mishawaka, prompting a response from the fire department and utility workers.

The Mishawaka Fire Department has been on scene since about since Saturday afternoon, while construction and utility crews work to fix the issue and limit further risk.

Access on a stretch of 12th Street remains restricted as crews manage the leak.

Residents in the area have reported hearing and smelling the gas as crews continue efforts to safely address the situation.
