A suspect is in custody after a shooting and crash in LaPorte left a woman with critical, life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon.
Police responded around 4:04 p.m. to reports of shots fired near Al’s Supermarket on the city’s east side. Investigators say a suspect fired at four people before fleeing in a vehicle.
Authorities say the suspect continued firing from the car while traveling through several streets, including Ridge, Philadelphia, and Ohio.
The suspect vehicle later crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Scott and Ohio Streets. The driver of that vehicle suffered critical injuries.
Police say the suspect fled on foot but was arrested a short time later near the Maple Tree Apartments. The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspect has not yet been identified.
