Indiana Governor Mike Braun is unlikely to suspend the state’s gas excise tax, despite calls from Democrats to do so.
The current tax holiday, which saves Hoosiers an estimated $50 million at the pump, may be extended beyond the May 8 deadline.
However, there are concerns about the impact on infrastructure funding if the tax holiday is prolonged.
Experts warn that gas prices could soar above $4 a gallon if the tax holiday is not extended, with the possibility of reaching $5 in the summer.
