An Elkhart police officer suffered minor injuries during a pursuit involving a man riding an electric bike.

Police say an officer saw 32-year-old Erieus Gates run a stop sign at Vistula Street Tuesday night and tried to pull him over.

Investigators say Gates took off, leading to a chase that ended when he jumped into the river.

Gates was later arrested.

Police have not said how the officer was injured.
