As many as 29 organizations across northern Indiana will share more than $196,000 in grants to support arts programs and projects during the coming year.

The grants were awarded through the Indiana Arts Commission in partnership with the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. Funding will support programs running from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

The Community Foundation has served as one of the Indiana Arts Commission’s Regional Arts Partners since 1998, administering grants in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Fulton, Marshall, Kosciusko and Starke counties.

Funding was awarded through two programs.

Arts Organization Support grants provide operating assistance for eligible arts organizations, while Arts Project Support grants help nonprofit organizations fund specific arts projects and activities.

Among the largest grants awarded were $13,648 to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts in Kosciusko County, $12,272 to the South Bend Museum of Art, $12,140 to South Bend Civic Theatre and $10,802 to the Fischoff Chamber Music Association.

Other recipients include the Goshen Theater, Merrimans’ Playhouse, South Bend Lyric Opera, South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestras, Heartland Artists, Wild Rose Moon and The Times Theater.

Ten organizations received Arts Project Support grants of up to $4,000 each. Recipients include Downtown South Bend, Bristol on the River, the Northern Indiana Clay Alliance, the Fulton County Historical Society and parks departments in Warsaw and Rochester.

Funding for the grants comes through the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County and the Indiana Arts Commission, with additional support from the state of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
