A 36-year-old Valparaiso man has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to transmitting online threats against federal immigration agents.

Alexander Jakeway was sentenced Wednesday, September 9, in U.S. District Court in South Bend to one year of probation and 50 hours of community service.

According to federal prosecutors, Jakeway posted threats on social media in November 2025 directed at agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The posts included calls for followers to “actually kill” ICE agents and “shoot on sight.”

U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred said the First Amendment does not protect threats of violence against others, including federal agents.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Valparaiso Police Department.
