WARSAW, Ind. (AP) — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has released about 2,300 muskellunge fingerlings into two northern Indiana lakes.

WPTA-TV reports the fingerlings were released last week into Backwater and Webster Lakes in Kosciusko County after numerous requests from anglers.

The Webster Lake Conservation Association began stocking muskies in the late 1970s with the permission of the DNR, and the population is thriving. The limit for keeping muskies rose this year from 36 inches to 44 inches.

The DNR plans to release an additional 1,500 fingerlings in the spring.
