Alcohol license not recommended for Indiana Dunes State Park

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana board has voted against allowing alcohol sales at the Indiana Dunes State Park pavilion on Lake Michigan’s southern shoreline.

The (Munster) Times reports the Porter County Alcoholic Beverage Commission voted 3-1 against the alcohol license Thursday. The board had deadlocked 2-2 in a June vote on the application by Pavilion Partners LLC.

The company is restoring the park’s pavilion and plans to build a banquet center at the site. Pavilion Partners principal Chuck Williams told the board that there’s “no way” to have a restaurant today without a liquor license.

The newspaper reports the board’s vote isn’t the final say on the matter. The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission is scheduled to act in roughly two weeks on the county board’s recommendation.
