A 45-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot in the stomach in Elkhart early Tuesday morning, May 31.

Witnesses told police they heard people talking and then a gunshot rang out in the 300 block of West Wolf Avenue at about 1:15 a.m., Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department said.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital. His injury isn’t believed to be deadly.

The shooting is under investigation.
