Michiana area gas prices to spike 20 cents in the next 24 hours

Drivers in Michiana may want to fill up their gas tanks soon before gas prices spike.

Gas Buddy issued an alert Tuesday afternoon, March 29, that gas prices in the South Bend area will spike up to 20 cents over the next 24 hours.

“Retail gas prices in South Bend have dropped over the last week or so some 10 cents thanks to healthy competition even as wholesale prices have risen slightly,” Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, told 95.3 MNC. “As competition has whittled down retail prices, some stations are selling at a loss, likely triggering stations to raise their prices to reflect the rise in wholesale fuel prices.”
