DUNLAP, Ind. (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that a high school student and a parent can remain anonymous as they sue over a live Nativity scene that’s part of a northern Indiana school district’s annual Christmas show.

The Elkhart Truth reports that a federal judge ruled Monday that the Concord High School student and his father will be known as Jack and John Doe. The American Civil Liberties Union and the Freedom From Religion Foundation filed the lawsuit Oct. 7, arguing that the Nativity endorses religion in a public school.

The father and son don’t want to be named because they are worried about harassment. Concord Community Schools attorneys didn’t object. The judge has yet to rule on plaintiff’s request to stop this year’s Nativity performance on Dec. 11 and 12.
