The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District is increasing security on South Shore trains following terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people and injured hundreds more on Friday, Nov. 13.

Like other train and transportation agencies, NICTD is increasing law enforcement presence on trains and increasing employee alert levels to be on the lookout for potential suspicious incidents, according to NICTD Transit Police.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said there is no reported specific or credible threat to the U.S., but major cities and some states are taking extra precautions.

South Shore Line passengers are encouraged to call 911 or immediately notify their conductor if they see or hear something that is concerning. NICTD Transit Police can be reached at 219-398-6000.
