Visitation, funeral set for former South Bend Police Department officer

Visitation and a funeral service are set for this weekend to honor the life of a retired South Bend Police Department officer who died Friday, Sept. 4.

The visitation for John Williams is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan St., South Bend, according to his obituary.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1862 N. Olive St., South Bend.

Williams was a captain when he retired from the South Bend Police Department in 2007. He then worked at the South Bend Community Schools and South Bend Water Works. He was a dedicated member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon.
