Night Out Against Crime: Police in Michiana offer free food, demonstrations on Tuesday

Michiana residents will have a chance to interact with their local police officers at several National Night Out Against Crime events planned around the area on Tuesday night, Aug. 4.

The South Bend Police Department’s annual free event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Free food will be offered from Little Caesars Pizza, Sweet Frog Yogurt and Krispy Krème Donuts. Games, giveaways, rock climbing, inflatable attractions and demonstrations of police and fire  safety equipment are also planned. Tours of the Med-Flight helicopter will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The event is at the east parking lot at the South Bend Police Department, 701 W. Sample St. South Bend residents are also encouraged to turn their porch lights on at 9 p.m. to help promote public safety.

The Mishawaka Police Department is hosting a variety of activities at Central Park, 295 E. Mishawaka Ave. Mishawaka, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free food and games for children are planned. Neighborhood watch groups will meet and police will be available to answer any and all questions. The event is free.
