Elkhart teenager arrested, charged in death of 14-year-old Dezjaun Sanders

A teenager from Elkhart has been arrested on a murder warrant, after a relative brought him to the Elkhart Police Department on Monday, May 5.

A warrant had been issued for Jwan Hardin after 14 year-old Dezjaun Sanders was found shot in the 400 block of Harrison Street in Elkhart on Tuesday, April 14. Sanders later died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Officers and detectives immediately began collecting evidence and talking to witnesses. Detectives put together a case and sent it to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review. A warrant was issued for Jwan Hardin.

Hardin is being held in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility pending a hearing.
