Fatal crash closes State Road 13 & County Road 20

A 79-year-old Middlebury woman was killed in a crash Monday morning, April 13, in Elkhart County, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Mary E. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash, according to a news release from the department.

Emergency responders received the call for a crash involving a van and a semi at 5:40 a.m. at S.R. 13 and C.R. 20, emergency dispatchers confirmed.

The semi was driving south on S.R. 13 and the minivan was eastbound on C.R. 20 when the vehicles hit, WNDU reported. The driver of the minivan was killed and the semi driver was not hurt.

The road was closed for several hours while the crash investigation team investigated the collision, according to a post on the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
