Michigan man charged after police say he poured acid on face, chest of woman

ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) — A 53-year-old is charged after authorities say he poured what’s believed to be acid on the face and chest of a woman at her home in western Michigan.

Gregory Alan Marsman was arraigned Thursday on charges including torture, home invasion and domestic violence. In court, he denied breaking into the home in Allegan County’s Ganges Township early Wednesday but said he understood the charges.

Marsman is jailed on $100,000 bond and a March 24 hearing is scheduled. Authorities are investigating what prompted the attack.

The sheriff’s department says he caused a lot of damage at the home before the woman got home and tackled her after she arrived, pouring suspected acid on her. She sought help from neighbors, who helped wash away the liquid. Marsman was arrested in Berrien County.
