University of Michigan wants your ideas for medical research

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Got an idea for medical research? The University of Michigan wants to hear about it.

The university has launched www.wellspringboard.org as an online place to submit an idea and post a brief video. Once posted, the public will have an opportunity to vote.

Ideas getting a certain number of votes will be eligible for research money from U-M. Anyone can donate to a project through a secure online site.

The website welcomes any ideas, but there will be a focus on children’s heart disease, children’s cancer, sleep problems and diabetes in adults. Dr. Matthew Davis says the public “can be a great source of inspiration and support” for researchers.
