14-year-old girl hit, dragged by vehicle on Halloween is improving

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 14-year-old Michigan girl’s condition is improving after she was struck by two vehicles and dragged nearly two miles while trick-or-treating on Halloween.

University of Michigan Health System says the girl, who hasn’t been identified, had improved from critical but stable to serious condition as of about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Ann Arbor News reports that the girl was trick-or-treating with two friends when she was struck by the first vehicle around 9 p.m. Saturday in Ypsilanti Township. The driver of the first vehicle stopped and called 911, telling a dispatcher he hit her but couldn’t find her.

The second vehicle dragged the girl toward Interstate 94, until she was dislodged and left in the roadway.

Police are searching for the driver of the second vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.
