A man in custody at the Elkhart County Jail has died after suffering an apparent medical issue.

It was around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, when staff at the jail asked for an ambulance.

The inmate, Corbin Eby, 31, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

At approximately 8 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office was notified that Eby died while being treated.

Per normal protocol, the Sheriff’s Office has requested the Elkhart County Homicide Unit to the scene to investigate.
