An Elkhart County man could face up to 120 years in prison after he was convicted of dealing cocaine near a public park.

Tracey Hardy was found guilty on Tuesday, April 21, of one count of dealing in cocaine, a Class B felony, and two counts of dealing in cocaine, both Class A felonies because the cocaine was sold within 1,000 feet of a public park, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

Hardy arrested in October 2013 after a confidential source working for police purchased crack cocaine from Hardy three times, according to the news release.

The defense argued that no police officers witnessed Hardy sell any cocaine. Prosecutors argued that the testimony from the confidential source combined with evidence of money Hardy held that was traced back to the police department proved his guilt.

Hardy’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 14.
