Capt. Charles Hollowell of the Westfield Police Department said Thursday night that authorities don’t have an exact number of injuries but are certain more than 12 were hurt. He says at least one person was critically injured after the stage gave way at Westfield High School.

No fatalities were reported.

During a news conference Friday morning, officials said the injuries are described as “minor” to all.

Hollowell says a large group of students were on the stage during the grand finale of “American Pie” when the floor of the stage collapsed.

Chris Baldwin, who works in human resources for the high school, says regularly scheduled classes will meet Friday.

Westfield is about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.
