Pedestrian killed in hit and run crash

A pedestrian was killed during a hit-and-run early Sunday morning. 

At around 1:20 a.m., 25-year-old Duke Gowens of Cassopolis, Mich., was hit by an unknown vehicle, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office

Early investigations show Gowens was in the northbound lane of M 40, north of Withers Street, when a northbound vehicle hit him, according to the release. Gowens died at the scene. 

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 269-445-1560. The incident is under investigation.
