Elkhart man killed in early morning crash

An Elkhart man was killed in an early morning crash Sunday. 

At 3:18 a.m., 36-year-old Jason Mikel of Elkhart was eastbound on Douglas Road when he failed to stop at the intersection of Douglas and Ash roads, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. 

He went off the road and hit a tree, where he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. 

The crash is under investigation.
