Listeria contamination fears leads to recall of packaged apple slices at Wa-Nee schools

Concern about possible listeria contamination has Sun Rich Fresh Foods notifying its customers, including Wa-Nee Community Schools, about a recall of packaged apple slices.

Symptoms of Listeria include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Anyone with symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.

The apple slices were served Thursday in school lunches at NorthWood Middle School and may have been served at all of Wa-Nee Community Schools during the last week, 95.3 MNC’s news partners The Elkhart Truth reported.

The school district says if students brought home a package of apple slices during the past two weeks, the package should be thrown out or returned to the school.
