Though the 2015 elections focus on city positions only, there are plenty of interesting contests on the ballot around Michiana.
Here’s a look at a few interesting races in South Bend, Elkhart and Nappanee.
SOUTH BEND
In South Bend, South Bend Common Councilman Henry Davis Jr. is looking to unseat fellow Democrat and incumbent Mayor Pete Buttigieg for the November elections.
The winner of the race would face Republican Kelly Jones in the November general election.
The South Bend city clerk’s race is also one to watch.
Democrats Derek Dieter and Kareemah Fowler are both vying for the spot, and Fowler gained the endorsement of Buttigieg in March.

Because of the endorsement, Dieter filed a formal complaint with the St. Joseph County Election Board over slating concerns.
ELKHART
The Elkhart mayoral race pits two Democrats and two Republicans against each other.
Incumbent Democrat Mayor Dick Moore, 81, is being challenged by Caleb Owens, an 18-year-old Concord High School senior.
Meanwhile, Dan Boecher and Tim Neese are vying for the Republican nomination. Neese is a former Indiana state representative and Elkhart city councilman. Boecher is the executive director of Downtown Elkhart Inc.
NAPPANEE
Nappanee’s city positions could very well be decided Tuesday because the city has a straight Republican ballot.
Phil Jenkins, an architect and former Nappanee city councilman, is facing Patricia Wyant, a self-employed lifelong resident, for mayor.
