A Michigan high school teacher faces up to 15 years in prison after she was arraigned on charges relating to an inappropriate relationship police say she had with a student.

Lauren Hill, 26, of St. Joseph, Mich., was charged with two counts of sexual contact with a minor under the age of 16 using a position of authority and two counts of sexual penetration with a minor ages 16 to 18, according to a news release from the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office.

All four charges are related to incidents with one student. Hill could spend up to 15 years in prison if convicted of all four charges.

Hill was a teacher and girls’ soccer coach at St. Joseph High School in Berrien County when parents of a student contacted school officials about a possible inappropriate relationship between Hill and their child. Hill resigned from the school Friday, May 1.

She was being held on a $10,000 bond but was not listed in Berrien County Jail as of 4:15 Friday, May 8.

A preliminary examination conference is set for May 15.
