1-year-old child hurt as mother crashes car after police chase

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State Police say a 1-year-old child was hurt when his mother crashed a vehicle into a utility pole after a short police pursuit in Flint.

Lt. David Kaiser tells The Flint Journal that troopers tried to pull over the vehicle around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, but the woman did not stop. He says she lost control a short time later and slid sideways into a utility pole.

According to Kaiser, the woman and her child in the car received minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. He says the child was in a car seat but wasn’t properly secured.

Kaiser says the woman had several outstanding felony warrants.
